About the artist

Megan Cafferata was born in Andover, Massachusetts in 1961. She attended Pratt Institute, Mass College of Art, and graduated from Montserrat School of Visual Art in 1984, majoring in painting and printmaking.

After moving to midcoast Maine in 1984, she began to focus more on painting than printmaking, and prefers watercolor for its spontaneity and unpredictability. She finds inspiration in the landscape surrounding her, and especially in the various organic elements that one finds washed up on the Maine Coast, sometimes in which there is more than meets the eye...

She currently lives in Camden with her husband and two daughters.

EDUCATION:

1981-1984 - Montserrat School of Visual Art Beverly , MA Diploma with commendations in painting, printmaking and illustration. Special emphasis on painting and printmaking. Studies in 2-D design, graphic design, illustration and art history.

1981 - Massachusetts College of Art Boston, MA Studies in printmaking, drawing, watercolor painting and calligraphy.
